Foundations Program

Puppy & Basic Training

Build a foundation of trust, manners, and obedience for a lifetime of good behavior.

What it covers

  • Every puppy is different, so the plan is built around yours. Common focuses include:
  • House and crate training
  • Early socialization and confidence-building
  • Foundational obedience: sit, down, stay, recall
  • Polite leash manners and loose-leash walking
  • Bite inhibition and impulse control
  • …and whatever else your puppy needs to start life well.

Includes

  • Initial consultation (2 hr 15 min)
  • 5 training sessions (1 hr 15 min each)

Who it's for

New puppy owners who want to start their dog off right, and anyone with an adolescent or adult dog that never learned the basics. If your dog is friendly but a bit chaotic, still figuring out the house, or you simply want a calm, well-mannered companion, this is where we begin.

Outcome

A confident, well-mannered puppy with the foundations locked in early.

Leash Reactivity & Behavior Modification

Overcome challenging behaviors with proven, compassionate, balanced techniques.

What it covers

  • Leash reactivity to dogs, people, bikes and traffic
  • Pulling, lunging and over-arousal on walks
  • In-home issues: door manners, guarding, jumping, over-arousal with visitors
  • Anxiety, fear-based behaviors and resource guarding
  • Aggression assessment and structured rehabilitation
  • Real-world counter-conditioning in NYC environments

Includes

  • Initial consultation (2 hr 15 min)
  • 6–7 training sessions (1 hr 15 min each), depending on your dog's individual needs

Who it's for

Owners whose dog is loving at home but a challenge in the world, or whose dog struggles with specific behaviors that make daily life stressful. If walks feel like a battle, visitors set your dog off, or certain triggers turn a good day difficult, this program is built for you.

Outcome

A calmer dog that can navigate NYC triggers with confidence.

  • Distraction-proofing in parks, trails and busy streets
  • E-collar conditioning and reliable off-leash control

Frequently Asked

Common questions, answered.

How long until I see results?

Most owners see meaningful change within the first two to three sessions. Lasting behavior change — the kind that holds up under real-world distraction — typically takes four to twelve weeks depending on the dog, the issue, and your consistency between sessions.

Do you guarantee outcomes?

No reputable trainer can guarantee a living animal's behavior. What I do guarantee is a clear, structured plan, measurable milestones, honest assessments, and the same methods that have worked across hundreds of NYC dogs.

What methods do you use?

A balanced, evidence-based approach — reward-based foundations combined with clear, fair structure. No outdated dominance theory, no shortcuts that erode trust. Every plan is built around the individual dog in front of us.

Do you travel to me?

Yes. In-person sessions take place in your home and in your dog's real environment across Long Island City, Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. Travel beyond these areas is available on request.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. Virtual coaching is available for clients outside NYC, for follow-up support, and as a more affordable option for foundational training and homework reviews.
